April Show & Studio Sale

Hello All!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend full of family and friends! I had a wonderful weekend with family, and I some how I managed to get into the garden and start my seeds. I am looking forward to spring and a new season of growth.

I am writing to let you all know that this weekend April 10, 11, &12 will be my Final Show & Sale with Studio 113 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. I am both excited to begin my new adventure in life as a mother, but I am also very sad to leave such a wonderful space and good friends. As some of you may already know this is the final hurrah to the March Madness Sale. All artworks in the studio will be 50% off the labeled price, that includes framed artworks & paintings. I will also have all of my hand bound books marked at $5 off the labeled price. So this is a great time to invest in an original Ganson art work.

Both of my Studio Mates will also be showing their art works and selling them a great prices as well.

It’s Been to Long

Hello All,

It has been some time since my last post and things still haven’t slowed down. 2014 was super busy near the end and next thing I knew it was a new year already, and 2015 hasn’t started off any slower. I’ve joined a group of local Okanagan Artists in a new challenge to create everyday. This is different from the one I joined in on last year (#opus6x6), as this one is about showing what your up to on a day by day basis. This new group has set a goal of a whole year of posting daily creativity… you can follow the progression on any social media website by searching #opusartdaily and if you live in the Okanagan feel free to join us and post your works using the above hashtag.

Not that one challenge is enough, I’ve joined another! Opus Art Supplies has posted a challenge to all artists to do a 28 day challenge for the month of February. Same concept as the one I joined did last year, one completed work per-day. This challenge is based on the idea that it takes 28 days to build a habit.. so lets build a good habit together. This art challenge is world wide and has been super fun to both do and watch. The hashtag for this one is #opusdailypractice, and it is not to late to join in!

I hope so see your creations!

By All Means Paint

By All Means Paint is an amazing video that Opus Art Supplies has put together based off of Vincent Van Gogh`s quote. I am so very honored that they ask me to create an image for this video. I created a painting of one of my squids, and my word was Means. So check it out and let me know what you think. The video is super cool and bound to stir up some emotion. Check out the video at http://www.opusartsupplies.com/byallmeanscreate  and Tweet your thoughts: @OpusArtSupplies #ByAllMeansCreate or contact me directly @trinaganson

I am looking forward to your thoughts and perhaps your own interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh’s quote.

Keep Making your Marks,

Hugs Trina

One Beer, Two Beer, Three Beer Down

2014_Day_Job_title

An amazing evening, with even more amazing artists! Everyone warmed my heart, it was and is such an honor to be apart of this event, not to mention being apart of Opus Kelowna.  I had a blast, maybe one beer to many, but I encourage you to stop by the art gallery and check the show out or look it up on line and see the amazing online catalog that has been created. You will not be disappointed.

Even amidst the beer, and people, and late night I still worked out a one a day…. I’m not sure how.. but here it is.

Day 17 – a simple pink watercolour sphere embraced by a mystery critter.

day 17

Day 18 – I must admit the residue of beer seems to linger a lot longer as I get older. Next time around I will have to make a note to stop at one.  After a lot of water, rest, and more water, I found a some creative moments. It seems that me and my watercolours go hand in hand for these one a day challenges, and I am starting to enjoy the small scale, at last. However that being said, it could all change by tomorrows one a day. Today I decided to create a work that reflected the mild January weather we’ve been having here, a couple of spring blooms.

Day 18

These flowers may also represent my urge for youthfulness, the spring chicken… an age when the mild hangover three beer gave would have been gone first thing in the day.

Until next time,

Trina

One A Day Challenge – Day 16

Day 16 – Still feeling tired and warren out by this thing called a cold. I did manage to get to work and stay there all day, but I’m not going to lie I was burnt out by the end of it. After dinner I took up what seems to be my regular spot on the couch and let myself indulge in a few moments of creativity. Here is my delicate Squid/Gelli Critter in a Bubble. Did I mention I think I’m falling in love with the sphere?..  Day 16

On a different note, there is a gallery opening at the Kelowna Art Gallery Friday January 17th, from 7-9pm. I am in this show with 27 other amazing artists. If you are not able to make it between now, January 16th and March 2, 201. For more information view the Gallery website:  http://kelownaartgallery.com/exhibitions/the-front-project-space/day-job/ Soon there will be an online catalog of the show, but the images are not up yet but will be soon. I will send a reminder and link out as soon as they are but until then you may want to check out the gallery for other details.

If I do not post tomorrow night.. I hope you’ll understand.

Summer Fell Away

What a season, I have to admit the summer went by so fast. I wish I had a ton of stories about intense adventures. Nor was there an epic amount of camping, as I stuck close to home to tend a larger garden, and spend time with my family and friends. Which also meant no second road trip to the Great Northern for fishing. But I did manage to fit in one big adventure to Ottawa, where I got to see the Star Wars Show. Super cool concept to create your own Jedi, if it is in your area, and if your a fan… or not.. you should check it out. It will be worth it! So since I was in Ottawa why not take a drive and head over to up State New York for a few days, to do few hikes in the Adirondack Mountains near Lake Placid. I had never been, so why not right?!?  We found our selves on what was said to be an easier hike. Only about 4.5 miles to the top, no problem… lol  Well when we got there it turns out the hike began to look like a dry river bed, then is started to get steeper. Yep that is right, we were hiking (climbing) up a dry water fall! After a major sweat and  aching soar muscles we made it to the top. What an Amazing place, the views are breath taking. I can see why the Olympics were held there. This whole area, drive included, is such a lovely space to recharge your creative juices.CIMG9147

This picture above is of another mountain, White Face, if I remember correctly, it was the one that had an elevator in it. lol Turns out it there is a weather station at the top. I could go on and on, but I will just leave it at that. This area is one of those ‘must see for yourself’. I think that’s what most places are like, and the best parts about adventures are the stories that are shared.

Some how no matter how much I planned to do some local BC camping, the summer just slipped away into cool nights, and the garden is starting to change with it. The canning season is at my door step,  and I am beginning to feel like I am already awaiting fall.

However, I know there is still a bit of summer time to be had, so in the mean time perhaps you’ll want to join me and a few others this September 7 & 8.  You will find me with Studio 113 in the Memorial Hall at the Annual Okanagan Lake Country Art Walk. This event is jam packed full of amazing local talent. If you live in the area and have two bucks, take a day, or two and check this event out!  I promise this will be great adventure to bring in the fall, and it will be full of surprises around every corner.

For more information please visit:  http://www.artwalk.ca/ or Facebook them at Lake Country Art Walk

Until Next Time! May you have many stories to share this fall.

Finding Bravery!

Hello,

I thought it was time I got caught up. Where to start…. You might remember the posts I send out about up coming art shows that you could maybe challenge yourself with and enter? Well I did exactly that, I send works out into the big world and hoped for the best. Now I was not accepting into every one of the shows I applied for, but with effort and a new sense of what it means to be brave I did get into Two!

Yes it is true this Thursday April 4th 7-9pm You can see two of my very new and hot off the press monotypes on display in what I think to be amazing frames, that I put together myself! I think they look good and the owner of Sopa Art Gallery did too! The two images can be found in Sopa’s annual U8 show. This show will have over 40 artists and 400 works of art all for under $800. To learn more about this amazing art gallery, or how to get involved for next year check out their web page.

For those of you whom can not make it to the show for various reasons here they are:

The second show…… Yep you got it the Okanagan Erotic Art Show. Just wild, you never know what the jury is going to pick and well they pick me to be one of the artists to show in this years event. The links for this show, and information about the event which happens this summer are in the “Unspoken Secrets” Blog.  I was really surprised I had created a few over the top girly images that were quit abstract and thought at the last day… I just gotta go for it!

Here they are!Pear

Tganson Out side of my monotype madness, I have actually been finding time to work on my painting skills. I must confess I did take a class, and at first it was a bit nerve racking, but I found it so very helpful. The painting below was created with the same techniques we did our class, well almost, I did this one in full colour. I challenged my colour mixing abilities, and I think I did a’ok. I choose to re due the same type of painting to reinforce what I had learned in the class. Not only did I learn something new, I retained most of what I was taught… now I have to apply those same concepts to create my critters.

So this is what I have been up to all winter. I hope to have a few new paints done very soon, and also plan on posting more often.

Be Brave! and you will always learn something.

Trina

Perhaps you to will consider taking a class, that is if you were having as much trouble as I was, other wise keep on painting on!
