I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend full of family and friends! I had a wonderful weekend with family, and I some how I managed to get into the garden and start my seeds. I am looking forward to spring and a new season of growth.
I am writing to let you all know that this weekend April 10, 11, &12 will be my Final Show & Sale with Studio 113 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. I am both excited to begin my new adventure in life as a mother, but I am also very sad to leave such a wonderful space and good friends. As some of you may already know this is the final hurrah to the March Madness Sale. All artworks in the studio will be 50% off the labeled price, that includes framed artworks & paintings. I will also have all of my hand bound books marked at $5 off the labeled price. So this is a great time to invest in an original Ganson art work.
Both of my Studio Mates will also be showing their art works and selling them a great prices as well.

I hope to hear from you soon,
It has been some time since my last post and things still haven’t slowed down. 2014 was super busy near the end and next thing I knew it was a new year already, and 2015 hasn’t started off any slower. I’ve joined a group of local Okanagan Artists in a new challenge to create everyday. This is different from the one I joined in on last year (#opus6x6), as this one is about showing what your up to on a day by day basis. This new group has set a goal of a whole year of posting daily creativity… you can follow the progression on any social media website by searching #opusartdaily and if you live in the Okanagan feel free to join us and post your works using the above hashtag.
Not that one challenge is enough, I’ve joined another! Opus Art Supplies has posted a challenge to all artists to do a 28 day challenge for the month of February. Same concept as the one I joined did last year, one completed work per-day. This challenge is based on the idea that it takes 28 days to build a habit.. so lets build a good habit together. This art challenge is world wide and has been super fun to both do and watch. The hashtag for this one is #opusdailypractice, and it is not to late to join in!
I hope so see your creations!

By All Means Paint is an amazing video that Opus Art Supplies has put together based off of Vincent Van Gogh`s quote. I am so very honored that they ask me to create an image for this video. I created a painting of one of my squids, and my word was Means. So check it out and let me know what you think. The video is super cool and bound to stir up some emotion. Check out the video at http://www.opusartsupplies.com/byallmeanscreate and Tweet your thoughts: @OpusArtSupplies #ByAllMeansCreate or contact me directly @trinaganson
I am looking forward to your thoughts and perhaps your own interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh’s quote.
Keep Making your Marks,
A few months back I was informed that Strathmore Artist Papers put a call out to the world of artists asking for new art works for their 2014 Card Art contest, so naturally I sent a few images their way. I thought why not, you gotta start some where. With fingers crossed I hoped that maybe I could be one of the luck ones to have my artwork and name on a box of blank cards, offering inspiration to others. It was just the other day I heard back from Strathmore, it was a very nice email and the Strathmore team thanked me for my interest, etc. At the end of the wonderful letter they regretted to inform me that they did not select any of my images a winner. Bummer! You win some and you lose some, but art is subjective and the three images that were selected are really great! In the end I was and am still happy that I had put myself out there and gave it ago. I’m gonna try again next time around, because you never know when yours will be the perfect fit. Congratulation to the three winners you all have created a wonderful work of art. To everyone like me who just went for it, Good Job! Way to put yourself out there and see what happens. Until next time, have a great adventure with an art supply!
I am back and am ready to start sharing my art and art experiences with you once again. I fell off the wagon of one a days, but I hope to get right back on again. I have been working on a few paintings, block prints, cards, and one of my newest loves, handmade books. This week I had the pleasure of playing with Golden Artist Colors newest product a watercolor called QoR. This is a Very cool product with a few unique colors, and not to mention it’s a something ‘new’ for the watercolour world. The paint constitutes quickly and the saturation of colour is FABULOUS. I really did enjoy my play time with this product, and I will be adding a few QoR colors to my collection of watercolours. If your into watercolour give this new product a try you will not be disappointed. Other than product playing I’m just working away and doing me best to keep my art up to date and available on line, I have even updated my blog pages. I did not add a ton of new works, but instead added the links to other sites that have my work rotating. I feel like this is the best way as I am always creating and honestly these websites are just easier to add art to. Here on Trina Ganson Blog I hope to continue to share what I am learning about art materials, my art experiences, and add pics that relate to those topics. Perhaps you’ll find some time to explore the web links and see a few other artists that might inspire you to give something a go.
Until next time, thanks for keeping in touch.
I may not have been posting as often as I did when I started this challenge, but I think I have been doing pretty ok. My plate of regular life is starting to get really full, and I have a ton of things to find balance with. But I guess that is part of my challenge, perhaps the next 30 days will be a different perspective of One a Day. I’m still thinking creative moments.. but maybe not a start one in a day and finish one in a day.. maybe just the documentation of the days creative moment… What are your thoughts?
Day 26 – Acrylic on cradle panel. I wanted to play with the idea of grouping the critters. This mini has given me a few ideas that I will play with soon.
Day 27 – Watercolour pencil and water soluble graphite. Fun Fun Fun! A softer look for one of the critters.
Day 28 – Acrylic gouache on decorative paper, with shimmer… Yes I really do like the shimmer! It’s a funny product that requires the viewer to view the work at different angles to get the whole picture, and it’s eludes to movement. I also love how each time you try to document it the image changes because of the shimmer… an interesting thing to play on.
Day 29 – I am in love with the new critter, and I am so very happy with my watercolours right now. But that could be do to the size of these images. 6-7 inches in diameter. Real mini works, equal a really nice time to play with watercolour.
So this is what I have been up to, and I am super excited to share with you what happens this Studio Friday. A lot of blocks are ready to go for the print marathon.
Chat soon and until then enjoy those creative moments!
